2010 Chicken Bowl October 1st - 3rd

2010 CHICKEN BOWL

 

DATES: Friday, October 1 to Sunday, October 3

 

LOCATION: Rideau Canoe Club, Ottawa

 

OBJECTIVES:

1)      The objective of the Chicken Bowl is to provide a crew boat focused training camp where athletes have the opportunity to develop crewboat skills.

2)      An opportunity for bantam and midget aged athletes to meet and train together to develop singles and crewboat skills.

 

Athletes should be prepared for a camp that will include paddling & running, with 2-3 workouts per day, including some testing. A larger focus will be put on technique and athletes will have the opportunity to work with some of the best coaches in Ontario and Canada. The Chicken Bowl will also be run in conjunction with the National Development team Turkey Bowl.

 

WHO IS INVITED?

All bantam and midget age class athletes whose training goals closely align with the Training to Train phase of CanoeKayak Canada’s LTAD . Coaches are also encouraged to attend as this can be a great opportunity to get together to collaborate ideas and knowledge.

 

DATES & TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

Athletes will be expected to arrive Thursday afternoon/evening with an initial meeting Thursday, September 30th  at 6:00pm.

REGISTRATION:

 

Coaches are asked to submit the “Chicken Bowl” registration form with a list of all the athlete names from his or her club or province. Please notify your coach if you are interested in participating as it is their responsibility to register you for the camp. If you are coming on your own, email me or call me directly to register.

Athletes 18 years old and younger (i.e. 2010 junior and younger) must be under the supervision of a coach for the duration of the camp.

 

FEE:

 

The fee to participate in this years camp is $ 40.00, which includes the banquet if you intend to come and 1 article of clothing.

 

ACCOMMODATIONS and MEALS:

 

Accommodations and meals are at the expense of the athlete. Below is a list of recommended hotels close to Rideau Canoe Club.

BOATS:

 

Athletes are asked to please make arrangements with your coach to bring your single boats. Coaches, please try to bring crew boats from your clubs to use at the camp so we can get as many crew boats out on the water as possible.  Bring extra crewboats if possible.

 

 

Equipment/Gear:

 

  • Paddle/C-1/C-2 blocks, floorboards, seats, footrests
  • paddling clothes (for inclement weather as well),
  • running shoes, running gear
  • clothes for inclement weather as it can be pretty cool in October

 

ADDITIONAL COACHES INFORMATION:

 

Please find attached a “Participation Registration Form”. Please fill out the form for your club and email tit back to confirm you & YOUR ATHLETES participation no later than Friday, September 24th.. Please also collect camp banquet fees and pay upon arrival.

 

In addition, please let me know what boats you can provide for team boats for the camp.
