January 29 is Bevin & LA Schmidt Day!

posted Feb 2, 2020, 7:44 AM by Heather MacIntosh
Congratulations to LA and Bevin Schmidt, co-founders of the Ottawa River Canoe Club, who were awarded the Mayor's Cup by Mayor Jim Watson at this year's Ottawa Sports Awards on January 29, 2020. In addition, January 29th will forever be known as LA and Bevin Schmidt Day in the City of Ottawa!

The Schmidt's are receiving the award for their commitment to advancing sport at the local, national and international level. It is also a reflection of the amount of work they have done and how they have become "outstanding representatives" of Ottawa's Sport Community.

In addition to all the officiating, coaching, organizing - plus being parents of elite athletes - and so many other roles, Bevin is the past Flag Officer of the Eastern Ontario Division and LA is currently Chairperson of the Sprint Racing Council. They are amazing people who have contributed so much to canoe kayak at all levels.
