EOD Land Acknowledgement

Land acknowledgements are a necessary first step toward honouring the original occupants of a place. They also help Canadians recognize and respect Indigenous peoples’ inherent kinship beliefs when it comes to the land, especially since those beliefs were restricted for so long.

The canoe clubs in EOD are uninvited guests on the traditional, unceded lands of the Annishinabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples.

We are grateful to the Indigenous peoples of these territories, and Turtle Island as a whole, who have been caretakers and inhabitants of the land and the water since time immemorial. We strive to honour, respect and learn from their teachings, ceremonies, language, and traditions, and to be good stewards of the land and water.
