Masters

A master paddler is a sprint canoer or kayaker over the age of 25. Most clubs have a Masters program.

2019 events for EOD athletes with Masters races are:

  • Rideau Masters Regatta - all Masters races!

  • EOD Championships - qualifier for Nationals. Masters races are Men's K1/C1 1000m and Women's K1/C1 500m

  • O-Cup Ontario Championships - Masters races are Men's K1/C1 1000m and Women's K1/C1 500m, Mixed K2 and Mixed K4

  • Nationals - Masters will be racing heats one morning (usually Friday) followed by finals in the afternoon; there is no qualifying requirement

  • CanMas - all Masters races!

Tupper Lake 8-Miler Canoe, Kayak, & SUP Race, NY, June 29

    • Location: Race starts at the Town of Tupper Lake Boat Launch on Lake Simon Road (off New York State Route 30) and goes up to the Route 30 bridge, then goes up the Raquette River to the Oxbow, and returns to the boat launch.

    • Race Distance: 8 miles. This will be an NYMCRA points race for canoes and kayaks.

    • Entry Fee: $25. T-shirts for the first fifty registrants. Prizes, awards, and post-race BBQ. *All proceeds from the race go to the Adirondack Health Foundation's Heart Health Initiative.

    • Race Start: Starts at 11 a.m. Registration from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

    • Classes: All New York Marathon Canoe Racing Association (NYMCRA) canoe and kayak classes. Also, there will be classes for stand up paddle boards.

CanMas Championships

Masters can compete at the Canadian Masters Championships held immediately after the National Championships. Clubs attend from all over the country. In 2019, it will be held in Regina, Sask. In the past the Nationals/CANMAS have been held in Dartmouth, NS; Whistler, BC; Regina, SK, Lac Beauport and Montreal ad Sherbrooke, Quebec; and Ottawa and Welland in Ontario.

Singles and team boats, including war canoes, compete in a day-long regatta.
